The Righteous not Forsaken
To God be the Glory…
Being a single mother, making ends meet on one
income with no assistance from family or anyone. I
went through all measures to provide for my sons. So there was a time when all
I could afford was food boxes from food banks which half of the food was
spoiled or there was no meat included. So being the frugal mom and with my
knack of being able to throw many meals together with no meat in them I was
able to pull it off for two whole months. But the day came when one of the sons
says to me, “Mom can we get some meat in our food we haven’t had any in a long
while”. I had no money for meat so I said to self you need to go to prayer and
ask God.
That Saturday evening we had prayer at church, I
went to my knees and with desperation I asked God for meat for our meals, I had
no money or possible way of getting any. When I got up from prayer that evening
a Sister approached me and ask me if I had any plans and I told her no; she
asked me to follow her to her home and I did. I thought it would be another
night of fellowship but when I arrived at her house she told me her mother in
law had gone overboard at Costco earlier that week and she had so much food she
needed to give me. I was dumbfounded, when I left that house several hours
later my trunk was half full of meat, the other half was canned goods,
toiletries, sweets, cereals and so many other stuff. I remember driving down
the highway with my sons sleeping and tears rolling down my cheeks thanking God
for hearing my prayer…we never went without since that day!Psalm 37:25b … yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Two things self-learned from this is don’t try to figure life problems out take it to the Lord in prayer and sometimes kids will ask before we do, when my son made that statement I know God heard him. All I had to do was ask…it wasn’t due to pride it was just me trying to figure life out.
