My Beseeching & Thankful Attitude towards God


Since I first came to truth I have always had the attitude of a beseeching leper…when I approach God I believe the beseeching attitude is necessary… a must. BUT a must also with a beseeching leper attitude is going back to thank God for hearing our request and prayers. I make the comparison of myself with a leper because leprosy in Mosaic Law was seen as sin; I was coming out of sin. 

I looked up the words beseeching… imploring, begging, supplicatory, earnest, persuasive were several of the words I found to equal. Thankful… pleased, relieved and expressing gratitude, relief.

Definition for attitude: the way you think and feel about someone or something: a feeling or way of thinking that affects a person's behavior: a way of thinking and behaving that people regard as unfriendly, rude

The beseeching leper in Mark 1:40-45 cried out for his healing and Jesus did heal him but never returned to thank Jesus. The ten men that were lepers in Luke 17:11-19 lifted up their voices and cried for mercy, they were instructed to show themselves to the priest and as they went they were cleansed. When one leper sees his healing, turns back and with a loud voice glorified God (as he is making his way back, he wasn’t waiting till he got to Jesus feet) when he arrives he falls down on his face at Jesus feet, giving him thanks.

In these two accounts in the gospels they cry out for mercy, healings do happen for the lepers but the one thankful leper was most grateful and didn’t take light what Jesus had done for him. Many people come to God in a desperate time in their life’s, there need is met and never acknowledge God again.  There was a woman in the bible that I feel didn’t asked or thank Jesus for her healing and worst of all she had tried everything out there for her illness her last choice was Jesus.

In three gospels the story is told of this woman Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:24-34, Luke 8:44-47 many know her as the woman with the issue of blood of twelve years. She tried everything elsewhere, had invested ALL her money on doctors for 12 years. When she pressed her way through the crowd was well-intentioned but she never hollered SON OF DAVID HAVE MERCY ON ME, MASTER HELP ME or any type of plea or supplication. Jesus felt virtue leave him, she was immediately healed. When he turns back, asked who touched him she didn’t speak only came forward when she realized she wasn’t hid fell at his feet confessed her illness and that she’d touched Him. She never thanked Jesus for her healing or for drying up her illness; she didn’t give him any praise or fall at his feet in appreciation or never verbally voiced her thankfulness.

God help me to always humble myself before you, plea for my needs and allow me to run back and thank you for hearing me. Seventeen years ago my life was falling apart and I thought surely I am going to lose my mind. I cried out to you in desperation, you heard me and since then I return to your feet and thank you daily.

Colossians 3:12   Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

Funny Dream...

A funny dream I had…try not to laugh to hard…I was walking through my room to my bathroom when I suddenly heard a baby’s cry on my bed I looked but I said to myself,   Surely Not! GOD answers little prayers not just Big Ones

March 2000 still a fairly new convert repented and baptized in Jesus Name, seeking the Holy Ghost the ladies from a small central Texas church invited me to a ladies meeting in Lufkin-Nacogdoches area. I found sitters for my guys that were 3 and 8 at that time and rushed in my packing.  Made a mental note of two thinks in particular that I had to get no matter how tight my budget was. I talked to God, told him you are my provider now and you know us girls have to have our stuff to keep pretty so please Lord make a way for me. We drove into a beautiful campground still had those two items on my mind and told Sisters Torres and Rolland we have to go to town as soon as we register and get our stuff put in the dorm.  We registered and were handed a yellow envelope (more like a packet). Approaching the Throne Boldly

Just got back from a conference and was reading an Elders book he had just published and I was inspired to write the next paragraphs... In 2007 I discovered a lump the size of a quarter that at times ached so doctors wanted to cut, aspirate and whatever else they thought was needed,  I told them NO you will not touch me. As christians when faced with hard decisions I believe we have the authority to approach God throne boldly and ask for certain things in our lifes. I was desperate so I did that I inquired of the Lord and told the Lord if you don't heal me I am leaving this world but Lord I am not ready to leave this world. I have two sons that still need to be raised and I don't want their father or my family to raise them.
